Tudo Bem? Time to find out.
The Rio Nido Roadhouse, a veritable carnival of Mermaids, chicken poop bingo, midget wrestling and people being elevated to Sainthood, of Rolling Stones and Beatles clones, Bob Dylan memorials and children frolicking on their lawn and people splashing in their pool has a question for you: “Oi, tudo bem?” In Brazil, it’s the situational equivalent of “How are you?” Good answers are “Tudo Bem” or just “Tudo.” and in Rio Nido it’s the Portuguese name of the versatile trio who will be entertaining on Saturday night.
Featuring Texas native Dave Aguilar on guitar, percussion and vocals, SoCal-raised Peter McCauley on bass, keyboards, vocala and percuaaion and Detroiter Pat O’Connell on percussion, Tudo Bem’s songlist includes renditions of tunes by Van Morrison, the Neville Brothers, Charlie “Bird” Parker, Elvis and Wilson Pickett.
You may check them out on their youtube video on which they’re joined by David LaFlamme (from It’s A Beautiful Day) on violin and Paraguayan native Carlos Reyes who thrilled Guernevillians at his recent “Rockin’ on the River” recital in Guerneville’s Plaza.
For $5 you may join them in the Roadhouse’s heated, enclosed pavilion in cozy comfort, while enjoying a bite and/or a sip of your choosing.
If you never tried doing the Samba while enjoying a drink, it may be time to accept the
challenge. Tudo Bem is also adept at playing Reggae, R and B, Latin, Country, Blues and Jazz.
